Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Buick Regal and 2004 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove any dirt, grease, or other impurities from the mounting surface.

  3. Install the SDM (2) horizontally to the vehicle (3).
  4. Point the arrow on the SDM toward the front of the vehicle.
  5. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  6. Install the SDM mounting fasteners (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  8. Connect the connector to the SDM.

  10. Install the CPA to the SDM connector.
  11. Position the carpet to cover the SDM.
  12. Reposition the front and rear door weather-strips as required.
  13. Install the right side front and rear carpet retainers. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement - Front and Carpet Retainer Replacement - Rear in Interior Trim.
  14. Install the center pillar, lower trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lower Center Pillar in Interior Trim.
  15. Install the right insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  16. Install the passenger front seat. Refer to Seat Replacement - Split Bench or to Seat Replacement - Front Bucket in Seats.
  17. IMPORTANT: The AIR BAG indicator may remain ON after the SDM has been replaced. DTC B1001 may set, requiring the SDM part number to be set in multiple modules. If the indicator remains ON after enabling the SIR system, perform the diagnostic system check and follow the steps thoroughly to ensure that the SDM is set properly.
  18. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 9 .
