Installation Procedure

    Fig 1: Accelerator Controls Cable Bracket

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Install the accelerator controls bracket to the throttle body if necessary.

    Tighten:  Tighten the accelerator controls bracket bolts to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  3. Install the new gasket, new inserts and studs if necessary.
  4. Install the throttle body assembly.
  5. Install the throttle body retaining nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  7. Install the throttle body support bracket.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the vacuum hoses to throttle body as noted on removal.

  11. Install the electrical harness retainer clip (1) to the accelerator control cable bracket (3) if previously removed.

    IMPORTANT: The throttle should operate freely without binding between full closed and wide open throttle (WOT).
  13. Install the accelerator control cable (2) to the accelerator control bracket and throttle body lever (3). Refer to Accelerator Controls Cable Replacement .

  15. Install the cruise control cable (2) to the accelerator control bracket (4) and throttle body lever (3). Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement in Cruise Control.

  17. Connect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector to the MAF sensor.

  19. Connect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector to the TP sensor.

  21. Connect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector to the IAC valve.
  22. Install the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Intake Duct Replacement .
  23. Refill the radiator coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
  24. Install the fuel injection sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L36) in Engine Mechanical.
