Removal Procedure

    IMPORTANT: When removing or installing the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) the ignition must be turned off.
  1. Turn the ignition OFF.

  3. Remove the screws from the air cleaner top cover.
  4. Remove the air cleaner top cover.
  5. NOTE: Refer to Handling ESD Sensitive Parts Notice in Cautions and Notices.
    NOTE: Refer to PCM and ESD Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  6. Carefully remove the PCM from the air cleaner housing and carefully position the PCM aside protecting the PCM from electrostatic discharge and/or impact.

  8. Remove the air cleaner element. Refer to Air Cleaner Element Replacement .
  9. Remove the screws securing the air cleaner assembly to the radiator support.
  10. Remove the nut, if equipped, from the stud on the inner fender.
  11. Remove the air cleaner assembly from the engine compartment.
