Installation Procedure

  1. GM4993769
    NOTE:

    If replacing the starter generator, install the starter generator brace, if equipped.

    Starter Generator Brace (2) - Install

    2. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution

  2. Drive Belt Tensioner Stop Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 58 N.m (43 lb ft)
  3. GM4745250
  4. Starter Generator (3) - Install
  5. Generator Mounting Bolt (1) - Hand tighten [2x]
    6. NOTE:

    Do not contaminate the connector terminals with coolant fluid.

  6. Electrical Connector (2) - Connect
  7. GM4745247

    Generator Mounting Stud (1) - Install and tighten 9 N.m (80 lb in)

  8. Generator Mounting Nut (2) - Install and tighten 22 N.m (16 lb ft)
  9. Generator Mounting Bolt (3) - Install and tighten 22 N.m (16 lb ft)
  10. Raise and support the vehicle.

    Generator Mounting Bolt (1) - Tighten [2x] 22 N.m (16 lb ft)

    Generator Control Module 3-Phase Cable (2) - Install - Generator Control Module 3-Phase Cable Assembly Replacement

    Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft-Right Side (1) - Install - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side (AWD)Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side (FWD with LHN)

  14. GM4311607

    Exhaust Front Pipe (1) - Install - Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LHN)

  15. Lower the vehicle.

    NOTE:

    Plug the drive motor control module radiator outlet hose so coolant will not contaminate any electrical connectors.

    Drive Motor Generator Control Module Radiator Inlet Hose (2) @ Starter Generator - Install - Drive Motor Generator Control Module Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LHN)

  17. GM4757744
    NOTE:

    Plug the generator control module coolant tank hose so coolant will not contaminate any electrical connectors.

  18. Drive Belt Secondary Tensioner - Install - Drive Belt Secondary Tensioner Replacement
  19. Drive Belt Tensioner - Install - Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement
  20. Fill the cooling system to the proper level. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)
  21. Enable the high voltage system. High Voltage Enabling
