Removal Procedure

  1. Release the parking brake cable. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling .
  2. Disconnect the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Remove the left-rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  5. Remove the left-rear wheelhouse panel liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Liner Replacement .

    Should the electric parking brake release be inoperative, remove the rubber plug (1) from the rear of the electronic parking brake control module (2), and using a suitably-sized flat-head screwdriver release parking brake cable tension by turning the internal fitting fully clockwise to the stop.

  7. Disconnect the electronic parking brake control module wiring harness.

    Remove the 2 electronic parking brake control module nuts (1).

  9. Remove the electronic parking brake control module (2) from the rubber mounting grommet (3), and lay the control module (2) aside.

    Unscrew the parking brake cable connection cover (1) from the electronic parking brake control module (3).

  11. Unclip the parking brake cable (2) from the electronic parking brake control module (3).
  12. Remove the electronic parking brake control module (3) from the vehicle.
