Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (LTG) , or Drive Belt Replacement (LCV) .
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LTG) , or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LCV) .
  4. Remove the evaporative emission canister purge solenoid valve hose. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Hose Replacement (LTG) , or Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Hose Replacement (LCV) .
  5. Reposition the evaporative emission canister purge tube. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube Replacement (LTG) , or Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube Replacement (LCV) .
  6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

    Remove the battery positive cable fastener (1) and remove the battery positive cable (2) from the generator stud.

  8. Disconnect the engine harness connector (4) from the generator.
  9. Lower the vehicle.

    Remove the generator mounting bolts (1) and the generator mounting nut (2).

  11. If necessary, remove the generator mounting stud (3) and remove the generator (4) from the engine compartment.
