Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Buick Envision. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Because of the accessibility of the S72 Sunroof Switch, perform the Component Testing before the Circuit/System Testing.
- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S72 Sunroof Switch. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the low reference circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If 10 Ω or greater
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K61 Sunroof Control Module.
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the low reference circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, test or replace the K61 Sunroof Control Module.
- Go to next step: If less than 10 Ω
- Connect the harness connector at the S72 Sunroof Switch. Disconnect the harness connector at the K61 Sunroof Control Module.
- Ignition ON.
- Test for less than 1V between the signal circuit terminal 5 and ground.
- If 1V or greater
- Disconnect the harness connector at the S72 Sunroof Switch.
- Test for less than 1V between the appropriate signal circuit and ground.
- If 1V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1V, test or replace the S72 Sunroof Switch.
- Go to next step: If less than 1V
- Ignition OFF.
- Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal 5 and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance
- Disconnect the harness connector at the S72 Sunroof Switch.
- Test for less than infinite resistance between the appropriate signal circuit and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- If infinite resistance, test or replace the S72 Sunroof Switch.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Disconnect the harness connector at the S72 Sunroof Switch.
- Test for less than 5 Ω between the circuit terminals listed below:
- S72 Sunroof Switch terminal 4 and K61 Sunroof Control Module terminal 5
- If greater than 5 Ω
Repair the open/high resistance in the appropriate circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 5 Ω
- Test or replace the K61 Sunroof Control Module.
