Installation Procedure

- CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Install the water pump (3) into position with a NEW water pump seal (4) and hand tighten the bolts.
- Tighten (1) bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Tighten (2) bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
Install the thermostat bypass pipe (2) to the water pump with a NEW gasket (3) and tighten the fasteners (1) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Install the engine wiring harness retainer (1) to the water pump (2).
Using the BO-38185 hose clamp pliers, install the radiator outlet hose (1) to the water outlet (2).
- Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (LCV)Drive Belt Replacement (LTG) .
- Install the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement (LCV)Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement .
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static) .
- Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
