Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Fuel Pressure Relief 
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  3. Remove the intake manifold and throttle body together as an assembly. Intake Manifold Replacement

    Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve (1) - Remove Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve Replacement

  5. Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe - Remove Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement

    Wiring Harness (2) @ Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Insulator (1) - Remove

  7. WARNING:

    The noise cancelling foam component MUST be replaced if it has been exposed to engine fluids. Failure to replace the noise cancelling foam component that has been exposed to engine fluids may result in an engine fire resulting in catastrophic engine damage, and possible injury or death.

  8. Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Insulator (1) - Remove

    Electrical Connector (2, 3) - Disconnect [2x]

  10. Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    NOTE:

    Use care to avoid contact with the fuel rail harness during special tool installation and fuel rail removal.

    Install the 2 studs (2) from EN-49248  Injector Rail Assembly Remover to the fuel injection fuel rail bolt holes and hand tighten.

  12. Install the EN-49248  Injector Rail Assembly Remover (4) onto each stud (2) and engage the hooks to the fuel injection fuel rail.
  13. Install and tighten the 2 nuts (1, 3).

    NOTE:
    • Turn BOTH handles simultaneously, in small, even increments.
    • Do NOT twist the fuel injector fuel rail while removing.

    Rotate the handles (1) from the EN-49248  Injector Rail Assembly Remover and remove the fuel injection fuel rail (2).

  15. Remove the EN-49248  Injector Rail Assembly Remover.
  16. Fuel Injection Fuel Rail (2) - Remove
  17. Clean the fuel injector bores and clean the fuel injectors, if the fuel injectors will be re-installed.
  18. Mount the fuel injection fuel rail into a suitable vice.

    Electrical Connector (2) - Disconnect [5x]

  20. Fuel Injector Wiring Harness (1) - Remove

    Ensure the EN-50791-100  Fuel Injector Installation Adapter (2) is mounted to the EN-50791  Injector to Rail Installer (1).

  22. Install EN-50791  Injector to Rail Installer (1) to the fuel injector (3).

    Using EN-50791  Injector to Rail Installer (1), compress the fuel injector (4) into the fuel rail.

  24. Fuel Injector Retainer (3) - Remove and DISCARD
  25. Remove the EN-50791  Injector to Rail Installer (1) along with the EN-50791-100  Fuel Injector Installation Adapter (2).
  26. Repeat the procedure for the remaining 3 fuel injectors.

    Fuel Injector (3) - Remove [4x]

  28. Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Seal (1) - Remove and DISCARD [4x]
  29. Fuel Injector Seal Spacer (2) - Remove [4x]
  30. Direct Fuel Injector Hold Down Clamp (5) - Remove and DISCARD [4x]
  31. Fuel Injector Nozzle Housing Seal (4) - Remove and DISCARD [8x]

    NOTE:

    Applying force to the plastic housing of the sensor may damage the sensor. To tighten or loosen, apply force only to the attached hexagon.
