Installation Procedure
- NOTE:
Ensure the fuel rail threads are clean and free of any excess fuel, or the fuel injection fuel rail fuel pressure sensor will NOT seal properly.
Lubricate the threads and sealing surface of the fuel injection fuel rail fuel pressure sensor (1) with one drop of clean engine oil. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Install the fuel injection fuel rail fuel pressure sensor (2) and hand tighten.
- Remove the fuel injection fuel rail pressure sensor (1) from the fuel injection fuel rail (2) and re-lubricate with one drop of clean engine oil. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Fuel Pressure Sensor (1) @ Fuel Injection Fuel Rail (2) - Install and tighten - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Replacement
- NOTE:
DO NOT use any type of lubricant when installing the NEW combustion seals on the fuel injector tip.
Install EN-51955-1 Long Protector (1) onto the fuel injector tip, covering the first recessed area closest to the tip. Place a NEW fuel injector nozzle housing seal (2) on EN-51955-1 Long Protector (1).
- Using EN-51955-4 Pusher (3), install the fuel injector nozzle housing seal (2) into the recessed area (4) of the fuel injector, then remove the EN-51955-1 Long Protector.
- Compress the fuel injector nozzle housing seal (2) using EN-51955-3 Pre-Sizer (5).
- Using EN-51955-5 Sizer (6), resize the fuel injector nozzle housing seal.
- Install EN-51955-2 Short Protector (7) onto the fuel injector tip. Place a second NEW fuel injector nozzle housing seal (8) on EN-51105-2 Short Protector (7).
- Using EN-51955-4 Pusher (3), install the fuel injector nozzle housing seal (8) into the remaining recessed area (9) of the fuel injector, then remove EN-51105-2 Short Protector.
- Compress the fuel injector nozzle housing seal (8) using EN-51955-3 Pre-Sizer (5).
- Using EN-51955-5 Sizer (6), resize the fuel injector nozzle housing seal.
- NOTE:
The fuel injector nozzle housing seals must fit properly in the relative groove. Overlapping of the fuel injector nozzle housing seals with the external surface of the injector must be avoided.
Check both of the fuel injector nozzle housing seals on each fuel injector for correct seat:
- The fuel injector nozzle housing seal must not be too large, buckled, or corrugated (1)
- The fuel injector nozzle housing seal must be fixed tight and accurate (2)
- If the fuel injector nozzle housing seals are not installed correctly, remove the incorrect fuel injector nozzle housing seal and replace with a NEW fuel injector nozzle housing seal.
- Repeat the procedure for the remaining 3 fuel injectors.
Fuel Injector Seal Spacer (2) - Install NEW [4x]
- Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Seal (1) - Install NEW [4x]
- Direct Fuel Injector Hold Down Clamp (4) - Install NEW [4x]
- Fuel Injector (3) - Install [4x]
Check that the nose of the fuel injector (1) sits correct in the fuel rail (2).
Ensure the EN-50791-100 Fuel Injector Installation Adapter (2) is mounted to the EN-50791 Injector to Rail Installer (1).
- Install EN-50791 Injector to Rail Installer (1) to the fuel injector (3).
Using EN-50791 Injector to Rail Installer (1), compress the fuel injector (4) into the fuel rail.
- Fuel Injector Retainer (3) - Install NEW
- Ensure the fuel injector retainer (3) is fully seated in the fuel rail.
- Remove the EN-50791 Injector to Rail Installer (1) along with the EN-50791-100 Fuel Injector Installation Adapter (2).
- Repeat the procedure for the remaining 3 fuel injectors.
Fuel Injector Wiring Harness (1) - Install
- Electrical Connector (2) - Connect [5x]
- Remove the fuel injection fuel rail from the vice.
- NOTE:
Hand place the fuel injection fuel rail into the position on the cylinder head.
Fuel Injection Fuel Rail (1) - Install
- NOTE:
Install the 4 fuel injection fuel rail bolts with zero torque.
Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Bolt (1, 2, 3) - Install [4x]
- Tighten the 2 outer fuel injection fuel rail bolt (1, 3) alternating in steps of 1/2 turn, until the fuel injection fuel rail (4) is fully seated.
- Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Bolt (1, 2, 3) - Tighten [4x] 36 N.m (27 lb ft)
- Electrical Connector (5, 6) - Connect [2x]
- WARNING:
The noise cancelling foam component MUST be replaced if it has been exposed to engine fluids. Failure to replace the noise canceling foam component that has been exposed to engine fluids may result in an engine fire resulting in catastrophic engine damage, and possible injury or death.
Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Insulator (1) - Install
- Wiring Harness (2) @ Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Insulator (1) - Install
- Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe - Install - Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement
Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve (1) - Install - Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve Replacement
- Install the intake manifold and throttle body together as an assembly. Intake Manifold Replacement
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Inspect for fuel leaks using the following procedure:
- Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
- Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
- Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
- Inspect for fuel leaks.
Applying force to the plastic housing of the sensor may damage the sensor. To tighten or loosen, apply force only to the attached hexagon.
