"Set"/"Coast" Switch Test
- Turn ignition on. Place cruise engagement switch slider in "ON" position. Measure the voltage at the control module by probing pin L (circuit 84) and connecting the other lead of voltmeter to known good ground. If voltage present is 12 volts, go to step 2). If voltage is zero, go to step 4).
- Disconnect control module connector. Probe the connector pin (circuit 84) to ground with voltmeter. If voltage is 12 volts, go to step 3). If voltage is zero, check for circuit 84 shorting to 12 volts in connector or malfunctioning module connector. Repair or replace as necessary.
- Disconnect connector. Measure voltage at terminal D switch connector side. If voltage is zero volts, check for short to 12 volts in wire. If voltage is 12 volts, check for short to 12 volts in connector (C235). If there is no short, switch is malfunctioning. Repair or replace.
- If voltage in step 1) was zero volts, hold "SET/COAST" button switch in the depressed position and measure voltage at pin L of control module. If voltage is 12 volts, switch is okay. If voltage is zero, disconnect connector.
- Measure voltage at terminal B switch connector side. If voltage is zero, go to step 6). If voltage is 12 volts, make sure slider switch was in "ON" position. If switch was in "ON" position and zero volts is obtained at terminal B (circuit 397) of connector side of switch, replace switch.
- Find open in circuit 39 or blown fuse. Repair as required.
