Programmable Read Only Memory: Removal

Remove ECM as previously described. Remove PROM access cover. Note position of PROM before removal. Reference boss on PROM should be aligned with dimple in carrier.
Grasp narrow ends of PROM with PROM removal tool. Gently rock carrier from end to end while applying firm upward force until PROM is removed.

NOTE: PROMs are not interchangeable from generation to generation. Be sure part number of replacement PROM matches original PROM.
