Output Cycling Test Procedure

  1. This test procedure can be activated after "E.9.5" is displayed on the FDC. Display of "E.9.5" can be obtained by depressing "HI" button while code ".7.0" is displayed.
  2. The output cycling test turns ECM's outputs on and off. To enter output cycling tests, start engine. Turn the cruise control instrument panel switch on. Turn engine off and within 2 seconds, turn ignition on.
  3. Enter diagnostics and display code "E.9.5". Depress accelerator pedal to wide open throttle position and release pedal. ECM output cycling begins as display switches from code "E.9.5" to code "E.9.6".
  4. It is possible to leave ECM output cycling mode at any time and return to ".7.0" by clearing ECM or BCM codes. If display does not advance to "E.9.6", refer to switch test "E.7.2".
  5. Output cycling tests will automatically end after 2 minutes. After cycling output is complete, display should switch from code "E.9.6" back to code "E.9.5". The outputs will cycle on and off every 3 seconds until the 2 minute automatic shut-off occurs. The only exception to this cycle is the cruise control power valve which cycles continuously. Additional output cycling may be obtained by pressing and releasing the throttle switch.
