Trouble Code E.7.4

The ECM supplies 12 volt signal on circuit No. 434 to Park/Neutral switch. The Park/Neutral switch pulls this circuit to ground when transmission is operating in Park or Neutral.

NOTE: The following step numbers refer to the numbers in the accompanying flow chart(s).
  1. Code indicates that ECM sees 12 volts on circuit No. 434 when transmission is operating in Drive or Reverse. To begin diagnosis, display code, disconnect Park/Neutral switch and ground pin A (circuit No. 434). If code passes, again display code and jumper pins A and B (circuit No. 150). If code passes with pin B grounded, then open is present in circuit No. 150. If code does not pass with pin B jumpered, check for faulty Park/Neutral switch connection or faulty Park/Neutral switch.
  2. If code does not pass with pin A grounded, determine if ECM can recognize grounding of circuit No. 434 at pin 6 of Blue ECM connector. If code passes, open exists in circuit No. 434. If code does not pass with circuit No. 434 grounded at ECM, then check for faulty ECM connector or faulty ECM.
