Trouble Code E.7.5
Cruise instrument panel switch sends 12 volt signal to ECM when switch is in "ON" position. When switch is turned off, voltage on pin J of Orange ECM connector drops to 0 volts.
NOTE:
The following step numbers refer to the numbers in the accompanying flow chart(s).
- Code indicates that ECM is not receiving 12 volt signal from cruise instrument panel switch when cruise is enabled. Retest switch function. To begin diagnosis, turn ignition on and cruise enable switch off. Measure voltage on pin J of Orange ECM connector with voltmeter (J-29125) connected to ground. If voltmeter reads 12 volts, then disconnect Orange ECM connector and measure voltage on pin J again. If voltage is still 12 volts, then check circuit No. 397 for short to voltage. If wiring is okay, replace cruise instrument panel switch. If voltage on pin J reads 0 volts, then check for faulty ECM connector or faulty ECM.
- If voltage is 0 volts, then turn cruise enable switch on and measure voltage at pin J of Orange ECM connector. If voltmeter reads 12 volts, then check for faulty ECM connector or faulty ECM because it is unable to process proper signal.
- The ECM is operating properly at this time and problem is in harness or in instrument panel switch. To isolate problem, measure voltage at pin C of cruise instrument panel switch. If voltmeter reads 0 volts, then circuit No. 350 is open or shorted to ground.
- If voltage on pin C of instrument panel switch reads 12 volts, then check circuit No. 397 for an open or short to ground. If circuit No. 397 is okay, replace cruise instrument panel switch because it is open.
