Clearing Abs/TCS Trouble Codes

ABS trouble codes should not be cleared until repairs are completed. Three methods exist for clearing ABS/TCS codes from the EBCM.

• Each time a code is set, the EBCM will begin to count the number of ignition cycles since the code was set. If the EBCM sees that the ignition has been started 50 times since the code was set and the condition is not present during the time, the EBCM will clear the code.
• ABS/TCS codes are cleared by disconnecting the EBCM, or removing battery power to the vehicle. During diagnosis with the J-35592 pinout box it is necessary to remove the EBCM, therefor clearing any code which may have been stored.

  After diagnosis with the pinout box and required repairs are made, verify repairs by checking for any codes which may have set. Since some codes are set by driving the vehicle, it may be necessary to test drive the vehicle again. If codes are still present, other repairs may be required.

• ABS/TCS codes are also cleared by removing the 20 amp brake fuse (No. 1) locate in the Maxifuse block.
