Powertrain Control Module (Pcm): Removal
CAUTION:
To prevent internal PCM damage, the ignition must be "OFF" when disconnecting or reconnecting power to PCM (for example, battery positive cable, PCM connectors, PCM fuse, jumper cables, etc.).
NOTE:
The PCM is located behind the right hush panel. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) may also be referred to as Electronic Control Module (ECM).
- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Remove right hand hush panel.
- Remove door surround molding and carpet retainer.
- Fold carpet and pad away from the kick panel to expose the Green PCM connector.
- Disconnect connectors to PCM.
- Remove PCM retaining screw. See Fig 1 .
- Remove glove compartment liner.
- Loosen the two upper mounting screws of the PCM mounting bracket.
- Move PCM rearward to disengage the front mounting pin.
- Pull PCM down.
- Remove bracket, top and front mounting pin.
