Powertrain Control Module (Pcm): Removal

CAUTION: To prevent internal PCM damage, the ignition must be "OFF" when disconnecting or reconnecting power to PCM (for example, battery positive cable, PCM connectors, PCM fuse, jumper cables, etc.).
NOTE: The PCM is located behind the right hush panel. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) may also be referred to as Electronic Control Module (ECM).
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Remove right hand hush panel.
  3. Remove door surround molding and carpet retainer.
  4. Fold carpet and pad away from the kick panel to expose the Green PCM connector.
  5. Disconnect connectors to PCM.
  6. Remove PCM retaining screw. See Fig 1 .
  7. Remove glove compartment liner.
  8. Loosen the two upper mounting screws of the PCM mounting bracket.
  9. Move PCM rearward to disengage the front mounting pin.
  10. Pull PCM down.
  11. Remove bracket, top and front mounting pin.
