Pilot Valve Solenoid Test

  1. This test indicates if pilot valve solenoid, located in Brake Pressure Modulator (BPM) valve assembly, moves into position and blocks pressure to master cylinder. This happens immediately before pump motor activation and fluid pressure application to rear wheel circuits during TCS operation.
  2. This is done to prevent damaging master cylinder due to high pressure fluid from pump operation. To perform test, raise vehicle on frame contact hoist so wheels to be tested are off ground. Turn ignition on. Using Tech 1, select F4: ABS TESTS and then F3: PILOT VALVE TEST.
  3. Have assistant command pilot valve test on by pressing up arrow on Tech 1. Try to spin rear wheel being tested. Wheel should spin. Wheel may be difficult to turn, but it should move if system is working properly.
