- Check for CCM codes 30, 31, 32, 33, 42, and 43. Check for PCM codes. If codes are present, see appropriate CCM or PCM codes diagnosis in the TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If no codes are present, go to next step.
- If engine does not crank, check PASS KEY FAULT indicator with ignition on. If PASS KEY FAULT indicator turns on for 3 minutes after attempting to start engine, go to PASS KEY FAULT INDICATOR REMAINS ON FOR 3 MINUTES, ENGINE WILL NOT START.
- If PASS KEY FAULT indicator turns on for 5 seconds and then goes out after attempting to start engine, remove theft deterrent relay from relay connector. Connect fused jumper wire between relay connector terminals No. 30 and 87 (Yellow wires). If engine does not crank, go to ENGINE DOES NOT CRANK. If engine cranks, go to ENGINE CRANKS WITH THEFT DETERRENT RELAY BY-PASSED.
