PASS-Key(R) Diagnostic System Check

  1. Check for diagnostic codes. See the TESTS W/CODES - 4.6L - Concours, TESTS W/CODES - 4.9L - DeVille, TESTS W/CODES - Eldorado or TESTS W/CODES - 4.6L - Seville article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. Check SECURITY indicator while attempting to start vehicle.
  2. If engine cranks but does not start, see ENGINE CRANKS BUT DOES NOT START. If engine does not crank or start, check SECURITY indicator function. If light flashed or stayed on at all times, see SECURITY INDICATOR EITHER FLASHES OR STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. If light never came on, see SECURITY INDICATOR DOES NOT TURN ON. If light came on, then went off after approximately 5 seconds, see ENGINE DOES NOT CRANK OR START & SECURITY INDICATOR COMES ON & GOES OFF AFTER ABOUT 5 SECONDS.
  3. If engine cranks and starts, and SECURITY indicator came on and went off after about 5 seconds, system operates normally. See NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS  . If light never came on, see SECURITY INDICATOR DOES NOT TURN ON. If light comes on at all times, see ENGINE CRANKS & STARTS, SECURITY INDICATOR STAYS ON. If light flashes on and off, see SECURITY INDICATOR EITHER FLASHES OR STAYS ON ALL THE TIME.
