SECURITY Indicator Does Not Turn On

  1. If engine does not crank, check power and ground to decoder module. If power and grounds are okay, replace decoder module.
  2. If engine does crank, turn ignition off and disconnect decoder module. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between module harness connector terminal A5 (Dark Green wire) and ground. If battery voltage is not present, go to step 4). If battery voltage is present, connect a jumper wire between module harness connector terminal A5 (Dark Green wire) and ground.
  3. If SECURITY indicator comes on, check module connector. If connection between module and connector is okay, replace decoder module. If SECURITY indicator does not come on, repair short to voltage in Dark/Green wire.
  4. If battery voltage was not present in step 2), check if other instrument cluster indicators operate. If they do not, see the INSTRUMENT PANEL - Eldorado, Seville or INSTRUMENT PANEL - Concours, DeVille article. If other instrument cluster indicators do operate, go to next step.
  5. Check SECURITY indicator light bulb. If bulb is okay, disconnect instrument cluster connector C2. Measure resistance between decoder module connector terminal A5 and instrument cluster connector terminal A8 (Dark Green wire). If 10 ohms or less are present, instrument panel cluster is defective. See the appropriate INSTRUMENT PANEL article (above). If more than 10 ohms is present, repair open circuit in Dark Green wire.
