Anti-Lock Brake System & Traction Control: Diagnosis: Notes
NOTE:
To diagnose Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), manufacturer recommends using Tech 1 Scan Tester (94-00101-A) with mass storage cartridge. Some diagnostic procedures will require Breakout Box (J-39700) or (J-41247).
The EBTCM has self-diagnostic capability, which can detect system failures. Fault codes stored by EBTCM can be displayed using self-diagnostics or Tech 1 scan tester.
Begin ABS/TCS system diagnosis with PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION procedure. If failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, perform necessary repairs, and then proceed with appropriate chart under ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK CHARTS. If no failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, go to appropriate chart under ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK CHARTS. The ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK CHART will either indicate ABS/TCS is functioning properly or direct the technician to various diagnostic procedures such as diagnostic charts, symptom diagnosis or BRAKE warning light diagnosis.
