Description & Operation: Notes
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controls both cooling fans by controlling 3 relays through 2 outputs. There are 2 modes of cooling fan operation, low speed and high speed. In low speed mode, cooling fans are powered in series. Cooling fan No. 1 is energized by PCM, and both cooling fans run at low speed. In high speed mode, cooling fans are powered in parallel, which allows fans to run at high speed. Cooling fans operate only when ignition switch is in RUN position.
