Security Indicator Light Inoperative
- Perform CONTENT THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM CHECK . Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using scan tool, select BODY CONTROL MODULE. Select MISCELLANEOUS TEST from output control menu, then select SECURITY TELLTALE. While observing security indicator light, press ON key on scan tool. If security indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If security indicator light does not illuminate, go to step 3).
- Check for poor connections at Body Control Module (BCM). If a problem was found, repair connections as necessary and go to CONTENT THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM CHECK . If a problem was not found, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, cycle ON and OFF key. If status changes when cycling ON and OFF key, go to next step. If status does not change when cycling ON and OFF key, go to step 5).
- Check all power and ground circuits to BCM. Repair as necessary. If circuits are good and no poor connections were found, replace BCM. See procedures in BODY CONTROL MODULE article. Perform CONTENT THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM CHECK .
- Disconnect BCM Brown 32-pin connector C2. See Figure . Disconnect connector from gauge cluster. Using DVOM, measure resistance in Brown/Blue wire between BCM connector C2, terminal C06 and gauge cluster connector terminal No. 23. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Brown/Blue wire and go to CONTENT THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM CHECK .
- Remove gauge cluster. Inspect security indicator bulb and gauge cluster printed circuit board. Repair as necessary and go to CONTENT THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM CHECK .
