With Rainsense Module
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Cadillac Seville, 1997 Cadillac Eldorado, and 1997 Cadillac DeVille. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Disconnect washer motor connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect test light between terminals of washer motor connector. While observing test light, activate washer switch. If test light is off, go to next step. If test light is on, check for poor wiring connection at washer motor. If connection is okay, replace washer motor.
- Connect test light between chassis ground and Red wire terminal of washer motor connector. Activate washer switch. If test light is off, go to next step. If test light is on, check for open Dark Blue wire between washer motor and wiper motor. If Dark Blue wire is okay, replace wiper motor (internal ground circuit is open).
- Reconnect washer motor connector. Disconnect rainsense module connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect test light between Yellow wire and Black wire terminals of rainsense module connector. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, connect test light between chassis ground and Yellow wire terminal of rainsense module connector. If test light is on, repair open Black wire. If test light is off, repair open Yellow wire between rainsense module and fuse block.
- Connect test light between chassis ground and Pink wire terminal of rainsense module connector. While observing test light, activate washer switch. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, check for open Pink wire. If Pink wire is okay, replace wiper switch.
- Check for poor connection at rainsense module connector. Repair as necessary. If connector is okay, reconnect rainsense module connector. Disconnect wiper motor 8-pin connector. Connect test light between chassis ground and Light Green wire terminal of wiper motor 8-pin connector. While observing test light, activate washer switch. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, check for open Light Green wire. If Light Green wire is okay, replace rainsense module.
- Connect test light between chassis ground and Gray wire terminal of wiper motor 8-pin connector. While observing test light, activate washer switch. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, check for open Gray wire. If Gray wire is okay, replace wiper switch.
- Check for poor connection at wiper motor module connector. Repair as necessary. If connector is okay, reconnect wiper motor connector. Disconnect washer motor connector. Using a DVOM, check continuity of Red wire between wiper motor and washer motor connectors. If there is continuity, replace wiper motor cover (circuit board). See Figure and Figure . If symptom still exists, replace rainsense module. If there is no continuity, repair open Red wire.
