With Rainsense Module
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Cadillac Seville, 1997 Cadillac Eldorado, and 1997 Cadillac DeVille. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Disconnect rainsense module connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Turn wiper switch to OFF position. If wipers operate, go to next step. If wipers do not operate, replace rainsense module.
- Reconnect rainsense module connector. Disconnect wiper motor 3-pin connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between chassis ground and Purple wire terminal of wiper motor 3-pin connector. If zero volts is present, go to step 4). If battery voltage is present, reconnect wiper motor connector.
- Disconnect wiper switch connector. Check continuity between Yellow wire terminal and Purple wire terminal (switch side of connector). If there is continuity, replace wiper switch. If there is no continuity, check for short to battery voltage in Purple wire. If Purple wire is okay, replace wiper motor cover (circuit board).
- Reconnect wiper motor 3-pin connector. Disconnect wiper motor 8-pin connector. Measure voltage between chassis ground and Gray wire terminal of wiper motor 8-pin connector. If zero volts is present, repair short to battery voltage in Yellow wire between 3-pin and 8-pin wiper motor connectors. If Yellow wire is okay, replace wiper motor cover (circuit board).
- If battery voltage is present, check for short to battery voltage in Gray wire. If Gray wire is okay, replace wiper switch.
