Power Seat Inoperative (A45 With Al2)

  1. If memory seats system check was performed, go to next step. If memory seats system check was not performed, go to MEMORY SEATS SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  2. Remove PWR SEAT circuit breaker from rear fuse block located beneath rear seat cushion. Using DVOM, check circuit breaker for continuity. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, go to step  4 .
  3. Check MEM T & T fuse (10-amp) in rear fuse block. If fuse is open, go to step  6 . If fuse is okay, go to step  8 .
  4. Repair short to ground in Orange wire between rear fuse block and Memory Seat Module (MSM). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Go to next step.
  5. Replace PWR SEAT circuit breaker. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  6. Repair open in Orange wire between rear fuse block and terminal "A" of MSM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair is complete, go to next step.
  7. Replace MEM T & T fuse (10-amp) in rear fuse block. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  8. Disconnect Memory Seat Module (MSM) Black, 2-pin connector C1. Using DVOM, check voltage between ground and MSM connector C1, terminal "A" (Orange wire). If 10-15 volts exists, go to next step. If 10-15 volts does not exist, go to step  15 .
  9. Using DVOM, check voltage between MSM connector C1, terminals "A" (Orange wire) and "B" (Black wire). If 10-15 volts exists, go to next step. If 10-15 volts does not exist, go to step  16 .
  10. Disconnect MSM Blue, 32-pin connector C2. Using DVOM, check voltage between ground and MSM connector C2 terminal D11 (Orange wire). See Fig 1 . If 10-15 volts exists, go to next step. If 10-15 volts does not exist, go to step  17 .
  11. Disconnect left seat switch Gray, 16-pin connector. Using DVOM, check voltage between ground and left seat switch connector terminal "J" (Orange wire). If 10-15 volts exists, go to next step. If 10-15 volts does not exists, go to step  18 .
  12. If driver's seat moves properly when either memory function switch or EXIT button is depressed, go to next step. If driver's seat does not move properly when either memory function switch or EXIT button is depressed, go to step  14 .
  13. Replace left seat switch. See POWER SEATS - SEVILLE article. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  14. Replace MSM. See MEMORY SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  15. Repair open in Orange wire between rear fuse block and MSM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  16. Repair open in Black wire between MSM and splice S313 located in left seat harness approximately 20" from forward/back position sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  17. Repair open in Orange wire between MSM and splice S326 located in left seat harness approximately 19" from forward/back position sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  18. Repair open in Orange wire between splice S326 and left seat switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repairs, recheck system operation.
