DTC B1971: Inadvertent Power Fault: Testing
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool and select BCM TEST. Select INADV. POWER. Turn inadvertent power on. Turn interior lights on. If interior lights come on, go to step 3 . If interior lights do not come on, go to next step.
- Remove inadvertent power relay. Disconnect PZM connectors. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Using DVOM, measure resistance between inadvertent power relay terminal C2 (Brown wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to step 4 . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to step 5 .
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between inadvertent power relay terminal A1 (Orange wire) and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to step 6 . If battery power does not exist, go to step 7 .
- Repair short to ground in Brown wire between PZM and inadvertent power relay. After repairs, recheck operation of interior lights.
- Replace PZM. See PLATFORM ZONE MODULE (PZM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, recheck operation of interior lights.
- Use scan tool to command inadvertent power relay ON. Use DVOM to measure resistance between inadvertent power relay connector terminal C2 (Brown wire) and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to step 8 . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to step 9 .
- Repair open or short to ground in Orange wire between inadvertent power relay and engine compartment fuse/relay center. After repairs, recheck operation of interior lights.
- Replace inadvertent power relay. After repairs, recheck operation of interior lights.
- Check for open in Brown wire between inadvertent power relay and PZM. If open is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step 5 .
- Repair suspect wiring. After repairs, recheck operation of interior lights.
