DTC B1332: Left Heater Temperature Sensor: Description

Left heater temperature sensor (located behind left side of dash, in heater duct) is a thermistor that controls signal voltage to Instrument Panel Integration Module (IPM). IPM applies voltage on circuit No. 518 (Black wire), between left heater temperature sensor and IPM.

When sensor is cold, resistance is high and IPM will sense a high voltage signal at IPM connector terminal B9 (Black/White wire at IPM; Black wire at sensor). When sensor warms up, resistance is reduced and signal voltage is pulled low through circuit No. 61 (Yellow wire at IPM; Yellow/Black wire at sensor), between IPC and sensor.

Signal voltage varies from 5 volts (open circuit) to zero volt (shorted circuit). DTC will set when ignition switch is in ON position and when circuit is open or shorted. When DTC is set and air delivery is set to HEATER, DEFOG or DEFROSTER air mix door No. 1 will cycle between hot and cold positions.
