Lumbar Support Does Not Move In Or Out (A45)
- If lumbar support system check was performed, go to next step. If lumbar support system check was not performed, go to LUMBAR SUPPORT SYSTEM CHECK (A45) under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Turn ignition on. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Select MEMORY SEAT MODULE DATA LIST - INPUTS function. Move lumbar switch to IN and OUT positions. If scan tool indicates lumbar switch is moving in and out, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate lumbar switch is moving in and out, go to step 6 .
- Disconnect left lumbar in/out motor. Connect a fused jumper between battery voltage and either terminal of lumbar in/out motor. Connect a second fused jumper between other terminal of motor and ground. If motor runs, go to next step. If motor does not run, go to step 12 .
- Disconnect Memory Seat Module (MSM) Black, 2-pin connector C1 and Blue, 32-pin connector C2. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and left lumbar in/out motor connector terminal "B" (Pink wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to step 13 .
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and left lumbar in/out motor connector terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 8 . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to step 14 .
- Disconnect Memory Seat Module (MSM) Blue, 32-pin connector C2. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and connector C2, terminal C9 (Dark Blue wire). See Figure . If 10-15 volts exists, go to next step. If 10-15 volts does not exist, go to step 9 .
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and MSM connector C2, terminal C10 (Yellow wire). Move lumbar switch to IN and OUT positions. If 10-15 volts exists, go to next step. If 10-15 volts does not exist, go to step 10 .
- Replace MSM. See MEMORY SEAT MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, recheck system operation.
- Disconnect left lumbar switch Black, 7-pin connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Dark Blue wire between MSM connector C2, terminal C9 and lumbar switch connector terminal "A". See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 11 . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to step 15 .
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between MSM connector C2, terminal C10 (Yellow wire) and left lumbar switch connector terminal "F" (Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to step 16 .
- Replace left lumbar switch. See POWER SEATS - SEVILLE article. After repairs, recheck system operation.
- Replace left lumbar in/out motor. See POWER SEATS - SEVILLE article. After repairs, recheck system operation.
- Repair open in Pink wire between MSM and left lumbar in/out motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
- Repair open in Dark Blue wire between MSM and left lumbar in/out motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
- Repair open in Dark Blue wire between MSM and left lumbar switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
- Repair open in Yellow wire between MSM and left lumbar switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
