DTC B1556: IPC EEPROM ODO/Configuration Error: Testing

  1. If diagnostic system check for system causing problem has been performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check for system causing problem has not been performed, go to appropriate diagnostic system check under DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECKS .
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure. Turn ignition on. Retrieve DTCs. If any retrieved DTCs are set as current, go to next step. If no DTCs are set as current, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
  3. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, go to next step.
  4. Use scan tool to clear DTCs. Operate vehicle and recheck for DTCs. If DTC B1556 resets, return to step  2. If DTC does not reset, system is okay at this time.
