Controlled Power
Controlled Power consists of the following modes:
- High power mode.
- Low power mode.
Body Control Module (BCM) executes high power mode by grounding controlled power relay coil control circuit of controlled power relay whenever BCM is awake. This circuit also is grounded for 15 minutes after ignition switch is turned to OFF position in order to obtain Retained Accessory Power (RAP) function. After a 15 minute elapse, BCM enters a sleepstate and transitions to low power mode. Components under controlled power then receive any necessary voltage from battery voltage circuit of BCM. If BCM is in low power mode, and detects that current exceeds approximately 2 amperes, BCM wakes up and re-enters high power mode. If vehicle remains inactive with ignition switch in LOCK position and without any BCM wake-ups for a period of 3 days, BCM deactivates low power mode. These following components are under controlled power:
- Fuel door release relay.
- High beam relay.
- Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).
- Radio.
- Radio Interface Module (RIM).
- Trunk release relay.
- Vehicle Interface Unit (VIU).
After 10 minutes, BCM turns off inadvertent power in order to preserve battery power. After 10 minute timer starts after one of these following conditions is present:
- Ignition switch is turned from RUN or START positions to one of these following positions: OFF, LOCK or ACC.
- BCM awakes with ignition in OFF, LOCK or ACC positions when BCM detects one of these following conditions:
- Illuminated entry activates.
- Interior lamps switch is on.
- Trunk opens or closes.
- Afterblow activates.
If any of these conditions occur during timer period, timer resets to 10 minutes.
