NOTE: To check or probe starter solenoid connections, intake manifold must be removed to access starter. See STARTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

Note condition and operation of SECURITY indicator light. If indicator stays on or flashes continuously, see appropriate ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Check starter solenoid terminals, battery cables, and ground connections for clean, tight connections. Check for proper installation of any aftermarket electronic equipment on vehicle that could affect system. Ensure battery is in good condition and is fully charged. Check BATT 1 (50-amp) fuse and BATT 2 (30-amp) fuse located in right underhood fuse block, and CRANK (10-amp) fuse and OXY SEN 2 (10-amp) fuse located in underhood fuse block, for an open condition. If problem exists, repair as necessary. If problem does not exits, perform self-diagnostics. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM .
