Test D: Keyless Entry System Inoperative

  1. If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Using remote transmitter, press each button one at a time. If Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system does not operate correctly, go to next step. If RKE system operates correctly, inspect for intermittents. See TROUBLE SHOOTING  .
  3. Using door lock switch, lock and unlock doors. If door locks operate correctly, go to next step. If door locks do not operate correctly, perform DOOR SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  4. Operate rear compartment lid and fuel door release switches, located on left side of instrument panel, below light controls. If rear compartment and fuel door release operate correctly, go to next step. If rear compartment and fuel door release do not operate correctly, repair rear compartment and fuel door release as necessary. See POWER TRUNK & FUEL DOOR RELEASE - SEVILLE article.
    5. NOTE: Ensure remote transmitter is correct for model. A wrong remote transmitter will test good, but will not activate vehicle.
  5. Turn Keyless Entry Tester (J-43241) on. Place suspect remote transmitter on test pad. Press each button of suspect remote transmitter, one at a time. If a tone does not sound and Green light does not illuminate on J-43241 after each button, go to next step. If a tone sounds and Green light illuminates on J-43241 after each button, go to step  10 .
  6. If no buttons on suspect remote transmitter does not sound tone or illuminate Green light on Keyless Entry Tester (J-43241), go to next step. If any buttons on suspect remote transmitter sounds tone or illuminates Green light on Keyless Entry Tester (J-43241), go to step  9 .
  7. Replace battery of suspect remote transmitter. After repair, go to next step.
  8. Turn Keyless Entry Tester (J-43241) on. Place suspect remote transmitter on test pad. Press each button on suspect remote transmitter, one at a time. If a tone does not sound and Green light does not illuminate on Keyless Entry Tester (J-43241), go to next step. If a tone sounds and Green light illuminates on Keyless Entry Tester (J-43241), go to step  10 .
  9. Replace suspect remote transmitter, then go to next step.
    10. NOTE: All remote transmitter must be programmed at same time. If system is placed in program mode, it will erase all preciously programmed remote transmitter.
  10. Program all remote transmitters. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER  under PROGRAMMING. If door locks do not cycle from lock to unlock after programming, go to next step. If door locks cycle from lock to unlock after programming, go to step  12 .
    11. NOTE: When replacing Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR), remote transmitters must be programmed to be recognized.
  11. Replace RCDLR. Program all remote transmitters. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER  under PROGRAMMING. After repair, go to next step.
  12. Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step  3 .
