Test B: Charge Indicator Always On

  1. If diagnostic system check was not performed, go to ENGINE ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . After diagnostic system check is performed, go to next step.
  2. Start engine. Does the battery charge indicator remain illuminated after the five second bulb check? If so, go to next step. If not, go to INTERMITTENTS  .
  3. Install a scan tool. With a scan tool, observe the BATTERY VOLTAGE PARAMETER in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) data list. Does the voltage measure within the normal operating range of 10-15 V? If so, go to next step. If not, perform TEST A: CHARGING SYSTEM TEST  .
  4. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER . After repair, go to next step.
  5. Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step  2 .
