Park Lock Cable: Removal
- Place the transmission range control in the PARK position. Remove the left closeout insulator panel. Loosen the left front carpet to allow access to the park lock cable routing.
- Remove the steering column reinforcement plate. See appropriate STEERING COLUMNS article in STEERING. Remove the 4 steering column bolts, and lower the steering column. Turn the ignition key to RUN position.
- Slip a flat-bladed screwdriver into the slot provided in the ignition switch inhibitor. Depress the cable latch (14), and pull the park lock cable from the inhibitor. See Figure .
- Remove the radio and console trim plates. See Figure . Remove the park lock cable (4) at the transmission range control assembly. See Figure . Remove the park lock cable from the vehicle.
NOTE:
Do not attempt to perform this step with the ignition key in any other position except RUN.
