Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
  2. Detach clips and remove upper panel and boot panel from center console. Remove ashtray panel screws, detach clips and disconnect cigarette lighter electrical connector. Remove ashtray illumination and remove ashtray panel. Detach tabs and remove center console. Disconnect SAS control module electrical connectors. See Fig 1 . Remove SAS control module mounting bolts and SAS control module.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
  4. If NEW SAS control module is installed, perform SAS configuration procedure. See SAS CONFIGURATION PROCEDURE  . After SAS configuration procedure is completed, turn ignition switch to ON position and wait at least 20 seconds.
