Installation (6-Speed)

  1. Install shift control assembly to the transmission. Install center shift control rod pin retainer.
  2. Install left side shift control rod pin. Rotate pin in order to lock the retainer into place on the transmission.
  3. Install left side shift control rod pin. Rotate pin in order to lock the retainer into place on the transmission.
  4. Raise the transmission. Install the transmission crossmember. See appropriate article in CLUTCHES.
  5. Remove the jack supporting the transmission. Install the drive shaft. See appropriate DRIVE SHAFTS & UNIVERSAL JOINTS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
  6. Install the exhaust system. See EXHAUST SYSTEM (6-SPEED)  .
  7. Lower the vehicle. Install bolts securing the shift control assembly to the adapter plate. Tighten shift control bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  8. Install sound insulator foam block into the console. Install the shift control knob. See SHIFT CONTROL KNOB (6-SPEED)  .
