Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Refer to SIR CAUTION in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in SIR.
  2. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to STEERING COLUMN TRIM COVERS REPLACEMENT (POWER TILT)  or STEERING COLUMN TRIM COVERS REPLACEMENT (MANUAL TILT)  .
  3. Remove the A/T shift lock actuator.

  4. Ensure that the Ignition switch is in the OFF lock position.
  5. Disconnect the park lock cable (1) by inserting a small screwdriver into the slot on the ignition lock cylinder case assembly. Push against the locking tab to remove.

  6. Remove the flat head tapping screws from the linear shift assembly.
  7. Remove the linear shift assembly.
