Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the side rear door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Right (E24, 40 Door)  or Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Right (E24, 60 Door)  or Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Left (E26, 40 Door)  or Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Left (E26, 60 Door) .
  2. Disconnect the side rear door lower latch lock rod (1) from the side rear door lower latch (2).
  3. Remove the bolts (4) that retain the side rear door lower latch (2) to the door.
  4. Remove the side rear door lower latch (2) from the door.
