Removal Procedure

- Remove the side rear door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Right (E24, 40 Door) or Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Right (E24, 60 Door) or Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Left (E26, 40 Door) or Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Left (E26, 60 Door) .
- Disconnect the side rear door upper latch lock rod from the side rear door upper latch (1).
- Remove the bolts (2) that retain the side rear door upper latch (1) to the door.
- Remove the side rear door upper latch (1) from the door.
