Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2004 GMC Yukon XL, 2004 GMC Yukon, 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

With an assistant, install the endgate onto the left body side hinge by sliding to the left and lifting.
Install the endgate to the right side hinge assembly by holding the endgate at a 45 degree angle and lowering the endgate onto the hinge.
Install the cables onto the side panel striker bolts.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Install the theft deterrent bolt.
Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
Inspect the endgate operation.
