Disabling Procedure

- Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Remove the rear seat. Refer to Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear in Seats.
- Locate the right rear fuse center (1) under rear seat, then remove the fuse center top cover.
- Locate and remove the SIR fuse from the right rear fuse center.
- Open front hood, and locate the front end sensor also known as the electronic frontal sensor (EFS) (2).
- Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the EFS connector.
- Remove the EFS connector from the EFS (2).
IMPORTANT:
With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
