Disabling Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Cadillac CTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Remove the rear seat. Refer to Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear in Seats.
- Locate the right rear fuse center (1) under rear seat, then remove the fuse center top cover.
- Locate and remove the SIR fuse from the right rear fuse center.
- When disabling the roof rail module go to step 8, if the side impact sensor (SIS) needs disabling then go to step 11.
- Remove the left rear sail panel. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
- Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (3) from the left/driver roof rail module connector (2).
- Disconnect the left roof rail module yellow connector (1) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
- Remove the left center pillar trim panel. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar in Interior Trim.
- Remove the SIS CPA (1) from the left SIS connector (2).
- Remove the SIS connector (2) from the SIS (3).
IMPORTANT:
With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
