Installation Procedure
- If necessary, install the fuel sending unit. Refer to Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement (4.8L and 5.3L Engines) or Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement (5.3L (L59) Engine) or Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement (6.0L Engine - Dual Tanks - Front) or Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement (6.0L Engine - Dual Tanks - Rear) .
- If necessary, install the fuel feed and EVAP lines to the clip on the fuel tank. Close the clip.
- Place the fuel tank onto a suitable jack.
- With the aid of an assistant, partially raise the fuel tank.
- Connect the fuel sender and fuel pressure sensor electrical connectors.
- Engage the CPA retainer.
- Completely raise the fuel tank.
- Install the fuel tank straps.NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the fuel tank strap bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).
- Remove the adjustable jack from the fuel tank.
- Connect the vent line quick connect fitting. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
- Install the fill hose to the fuel tank.
- Tighten the fill hose clamp at the tank.
Tighten: Tighten the clamps to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
- If necessary, tighten the fill pipe bracket bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
- Remove the caps from the fuel and EVAP pipes.
- Connect the EVAP lines to the EVAP canister. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
- Connect the fuel and EVAP lines to the fuel tank lines. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Refill the fuel tank.
- Install the fuel fill cap.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
- Use the following procedure in order to inspect for leaks:
- Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF, for 2 seconds.
- Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
- Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
- Inspect for fuel leaks.
