Installation Procedure

  1. When installing the I/P module (3) do not damage the pigtail and the connector (4).
  2. Route the I/P module pigtail (4) down through the I/P (1).
  3. Install the I/P module (3) to the I/P (1).
  4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the mounting fasteners (2) to the inflatable restraint I/P module.

    Tighten:  Tighten fasteners to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

  7. Route the I/P module wiring harness (2) in place to secure the yellow connector clip to the I/P (3).
  8. Install the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper (Standard Models) or Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper (WC2/WC8) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  10. Clip the I/P module yellow connector (2) to the I/P bracket (3).
  11. Install the I/P module yellow connector (2) to the vehicle harness yellow connector (1).
  12. Install the CPA (4) to the I/P module connector (2).
  13. Install the right insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  14. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 .
  15. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping .
