Installation Procedure

IMPORTANT: After a deployment or replacement of the inflatable restraint side impact module, the module retainer (6) must be replaced in order to insure proper inflator module positioning.

Install a new retainer (6) to the side impact inflator module (1).
Connect the electrical connector (5) to the side impact inflator module (1).
Install the CPA (4) to the electrical connector (5) of the side impact inflator module.
Install the side impact inflator module (1) to the seat (2).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Install the two fasteners (1) to the side impact inflator module.
Tighten: Tighten the fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

Install the foam (1) that covers the side air bag fasteners (2).

Install the J channel (1) to the seat frame.

Install the seat back trim panel (2) to the seat (1). Refer to Seat Back Trim Replacement - Front in Seats.
Return the seat to the original position.
Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 7 or SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 9 .
