Installation Procedure

  1. Install new rear side inflator module (5) to the body panel (1).
    2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
    IMPORTANT: When reinstalling or replacing rear side inflator module, apply thread locking compound GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or equivalent to the threads of the studs.
  2. Install the mounting fasteners (4) to the rear side inflator module.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  3. Connect the wiring harness (3) from the rear side inflator module to the vehicle wiring harness (2).
  4. Install the CPA to the rear side air bag connector (2,3).
  5. Install the retaining clip to the air bag connector assembly.

  6. Install the rear seat back. Refer to Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Standard) or Seat Back Replacement - Rear (WC2, WC8) in Seats.
  7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 10  or SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 12 .
  8. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping .
