Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  2. CAUTION: Refer to VEHICLE LIFTING CAUTION in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  4. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (LP1, LY7) or Starter Motor Replacement (LS6) in Engine Electrical.
  5. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.

    IMPORTANT: Clean the area around the CKP before removal in order to avoid debris from entering the engine.
  7. Remove the CKP sensor retaining bolt.
  8. Remove the CKP sensor.
