Circuit/System Testing
C0196 00
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer connector.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the low reference circuit and ground.
- If greater than 1.0 ohm, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- Ignition ON, connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the 5-volt reference circuit and the yaw rate sensor signal circuit of the connector. Ignition ON, with the scan tool, verify yaw rate sensor signal parameter is 4.8-5.2 volts.
- If over 5.2 volts, test yaw rate sensor signal circuit for short to voltage. If the circuits tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- If under 4.8 volts, test yaw rate sensor signal circuit for open/high resistance or short to ground. If the circuits tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- If all circuits test normal replace the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer.
C0196 28
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer connector and EBCM connector.
- Test for infinite resistance between the yaw rate frequency circuit and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, test the yaw rate frequency circuit for a short to ground.
- Test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance on the yaw rate frequency circuit between the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer connector and EBCM connector.
- If greater than 1.0 ohm, test the yaw rate frequency circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Replace yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer. If C0196 28 is still current replace EBCM.
